Training for Individuals, Parents, or Childcare Professionals
All classrooms will have 2 trainers 1 certified nurse and 12 – 15 associates per training per classroom. As a result of the 1, 3, and 5 day training sessions of leadership training, the adults will design, develop & implement a crisis a plan. This service training will allow them to immediately utilize the skills, they’ve learned in training to solve crises.
Available Training On or Off Work-site:
1-day refresher course for SCIP – R / TCI/ HWC 15 person minimum
3-day course for SCIP – R / TCI / HWC 15 person minimum
5-day course for SCIP – R TCI / HWC 15 person minimum
First Aid Training:
This course offers participants important life saving techniques such as the Heimlich maneuver and First Aid treatment of fractures, wounds, and burns. Staff must pass with an 80% or better on the written exam and demonstrate proficiency in the practical exam on order to receive certification. The American Red Cross issues certification cards.
Fire Safety, Infection Control:
The OSHA standard covering blood borne pathogens is a regulation designed to make the world a safer place. This Course will include topics:
Universal precaution
Safe work practices such as hand washing
Personal protective equipment such as latex gloves
Hepatitis B immunization
Confidentiality of HIV related information
Adult CPR Training:
This one-day course offers participants life saving techniques and safety procedures to follow in the event of an emergency. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is to be fully practiced by the students during the course. Associates must pass course with 80% or better.
Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI):
This course offers basic intensive training that requires adults to use verbal, non-verbal, self-awareness, and active listening skills. This will include assessing the situation, intervention approaches, coping skills and managing the environment techniques, geared toward de-escalating crisis situations. Physical escorts, dealing with bites, wrist grabs, choke holds, hair pulls, and takedown approaches.
Strategies Crisis Intervention Prevention (SCIP-R RESTRICTIVE):
This course an advanced intensive training that requires adults to use restrictive personal escort techniques such as one-person two person or team escort approaches. This also includes an overview of proactive approaches used to prevent crisis situations. Associates must pass course with 80% or better.
Approved Medication Administration Personnel (AMAP):
This four-day course provides associates with the necessary skills to dispense medication to clientele population in a safe manner. Topics discussed include medication standards, regulations, and policies of NYS/ OMRDD, observation, and recording of problems or changes. This course also train associates in medical storage and disposal, and administration of medications. Associate must pass course with 80% or better in order to be AMAP certified.
